Safety · Jets 1999
A champion’s final season came in New York
Atwater’s Jets story came at the end of an eleven-year NFL career. After ten seasons and two Super Bowl victories with Denver, the safety spent 1999 in New York, appearing in twelve games. That short stay connects the Jets to a celebrated defensive career, while leaving the championship years clearly rooted in Denver.
