Head coach (1997–1999); football operations (2000) · Jets 1997–2000
A turnaround on the sideline and beyond
Parcells took over a Jets team coming off a 1–15 season. His first year, 1997, ended at 9–7; the next brought a 12–4 record, a division title and an AFC Championship Game appearance. He coached through 1999 before moving into full-time football operations for 2000. His Jets story includes both the sideline turnaround and the roster decisions that followed.
The person behind the name
His arrival changed what the Jets could expect from a season. His later front-office role also connects the turnaround to the players who followed.
After moving to football operations in 2000, Parcells helped assemble a draft that brought Shaun Ellis, John Abraham, Chad Pennington and Anthony Becht.
Jets years: 1997–2000. The honors above distinguish team recognition from Canton’s whole-career recognition.
