Wide receiver · Jets 1985–1992
Consistency that teammates kept voting to honor
Toon wanted consistency more than dramatic highs and lows. After his first six NFL games, he caught a pass in every remaining game of his career, a streak of 101. Teammates voted him their MVP three years running. Repeated concussions ended his playing career in 1992, but his eight seasons left a lasting standard for reliability at receiver and a strong connection with Jets fans.
The person behind the name
A receiver who keeps showing up gives a quarterback someone to trust. Toon brought that reliability to an offense full of strong personalities.
Toon led the Jets in receptions in every season from 1986 through 1991.
Jets years: 1985–1992. The honors above distinguish team recognition from Canton’s whole-career recognition.
