The talent evaluator behind a famous near miss

Wolf’s Jets connection was in the personnel department. He worked as director of player personnel in 1990 and 1991 before becoming Green Bay’s general manager that November. His years finding players had begun with the Raiders in 1963. Canton honored him as a contributor, placing a talent evaluator alongside the players and coaches whose teams he helped build.

The person behind the name

Their Jets story.

His story belongs alongside the people who found and developed players. A near miss in New York would later help shape football in Green Bay.

One pick away from Favre

Wolf rated Brett Favre the best prospect in the 1991 draft. Atlanta chose him one slot before the Jets could.

Jets years: 1990–1991. The honors above distinguish team recognition from Canton’s whole-career recognition.
